The power of design

We think design has the power to move, educate and inspire. So we knew that if we were going to create a running shirt, it needed to be different. It needed to move beyond a regular running tee or race singlet. It needed to tell a story.

Thoughtful, intentional design is how we do it. Let's dive in, shall we?

And Yet We Run 2.0. Part history lesson. Part badass.

And Yet We Run 2.0 image

When diving into the history of women's distance running, we were struck by the perseverance and determination of female runners. For every milestone reached, women and their supporters put themselves on the line to make it happen. We wanted this tank to reflect that boldness. To say yes, this is our history – we know the battles we’ve faced – and we see strength and power in it.

For the design, we chose typography and graphic elements that speak to both the historical aspect of our running journey and the present day continuation of the fight. For example, the design features an excerpt from a 1928 article (limiting women from running distances farther than 110 yards), juxtaposed with a modern thunderbolt pattern. We see a laurel wreath, track oval, and medical heart illustration, tucked in next to modern typography. Letterforms that bump up against each other and the edges of the design.

Running limitations? Nah. Printing limitations? Nah. Though it was a bit of a (friendly) battle with our printer, we convinced them to print on the raw edges of the back of the tank, too. If these ladies could push the limits, so could we.

This end result is rich visual piece that proudly reflects both the barriers and boldness found in women’s running history. You can learn more and shop our And Yet We Run 2.0 Crop Tank here.
