What is freedom? Does it include heading out your and going for a run? Where ever you want? At any time of day? Wearing whatever you want?
Here, we graphically explore these questions through a mashup of running elements. Some of these are familiar to many runners – running routes and 5am alarm bells. And some are things not all runners consider. Do I have my pepper spray? Can I find a buddy to run with in the dark? Do these shorts make me a target? Is this all in my head?
We ultimately arrive at our conclusion: the Right to Run belongs to all of us. We all deserve safe passage on whatever street, trail or track we choose. Day or night. Black or white.
As runners, we demand this freedom for ourselves and others. This piece includes our Right to Run Manifesto and logo. (We, the runners, declare our Right to Run. No runner shall be deniedthis right on the basis of sex, race, pace or path. We will uphold this right for ourselves and others. None of us Runs free…Til we all Run free.)
